About this file

This document is a clarification note for Invitation for Bid (IFB) 33-5037, issued by the Defense Logistics Agency for the sale of off-specification aviation fuel at MCAS Miramar, California. The clarification addresses a specific illustrative example in the bid document, correcting the reference price for jet fuel from 237.69 cts/gallon to 239.190 cts/gallon as of July 1, 2025, while emphasizing that this correction does not alter the terms, conditions, or bidding process.

The IFB involves the sale of used turbine aviation fuel for energy recovery, with strict requirements for purchasers to demonstrate compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. The fuel may contain contamination from aircraft maintenance, and potential buyers must be prepared to handle off-specification fuel. The Generator will provide a tank profile upon request, and purchasers may conduct their own analysis at their expense. This is explicitly not a service contract, but a sale of surplus property subject to specific environmental and regulatory guidelines.
