About this file
This is a Vendor Questions and Answers document that provides clarification on technical specifications and requirements for the repair and upgrade of a main slide gate system at USCG Station Gulfport, MS under solicitation 3033526Q0000008.
The document confirms that the current gate operator is Hi-Security brand, though replacement with an equal operator meeting functional, voltage, safety, environmental, and access-control requirements is acceptable. The gate dimensions are approximately 22 feet wide by 10 feet tall, featuring 4 roller bearings in top and bottom tracks and 2 wheels with aluminum tracks. The roller bearings have been recently replaced; however, the wheels are damaged with worn rubber from friction. Regarding access control, the facility currently lacks keypad access due to flooding damage and is operating with garage door remotes; the new system should include camera capability and keypad access or alternative remote activation options. A critical infrastructure concern is the rusted and non-watertight junction box located on the ground beneath the control box, which requires remediation. The Point of Contact notes that electrical specification questions cannot be fully answered by the facility representative and suggests a site visit for comprehensive overview of the gate condition and requirements.

Vendor Questions and Answers
I have attached a few picture of our gate that needs to be replaced, but to get a realistic overview of the gate, a site visit would be the best option. I am the POC for this project. Below is the answer to some of the questions from the vendor, but I am not able to answer all of the electrical questions, as I am not an electrician.
3. Hi-Security is what we currently have, but is not a requirement to be replaced with same equipment, an equal operator be used if it meets all functional, voltage, safety, environmental, and access-control requirements.
5. We currently don’t have keypad access as the keypad was flooded and doesn’t work. We are currently using garage door remotes, but with a new system we would like some sort of camera and keypad or a remote way of opening the gate.
6. The gate opening is approximately 22ft, height is about 10ft. There is 4 roller bearings that are in the top and bottom tracks of the gate. There are 2 wheels that has an aluminum track that run between the wheels to open and close the gate.
The roller bearings are recently replaced but the wheels are damaged as the rubber has been rubbed off from friction.
8. The junction box is on the ground under the control box and has completely rusted and is no longer watertight.
