About this file
This document contains minimum technical specifications for a laser engraver/cutter system to be procured by Salt Lake Community College in Utah. The solicitation requests proposals for a benchtop CO2 laser system suitable for instructional and light production use, capable of engraving, cutting, and marking applications. The equipment must feature a minimum 24-inch by 12-inch work area, 60-watt laser power, 7-inch Z-axis clearance, and servo-driven motion systems. Required components include air assist functionality, pass-through capability for oversized materials, removable work surfaces, rotary attachments for cylindrical engraving, integrated positioning or alignment systems, and compatible software. The vendor must provide onsite or virtual training sufficient to ensure safe and effective operator use, as well as a manufacturer warranty of at least two years with delivery and setup support.
The specifications establish minimum functional and performance requirements, allowing bidders to propose equipment that meets or exceeds these standards with sufficient documentation demonstrating compliance. The system must be compatible with standard U.S. electrical configurations (100-240V, single phase, auto-switching power supply) and appropriate ventilation or external exhaust systems, with the vendor specifying airflow requirements for safe operation. Optional components may include a fully compatible filtration system with initial filters and required connection components. The College reserves the right not to proceed with the procurement after reviewing submitted responses, and bidders may propose alternative solutions provided they include comprehensive documentation of compliance with the stated specifications.
