About this file

This is a URS Post-Retired Verification Form for independent contractors working with Jordan School District in Utah. The form is designed to verify whether prospective contractors have retired from the Utah Retirement Systems (URS) and to ensure compliance with state regulations governing retiree reemployment. Contractors must complete and submit this form along with a W-9 to the Accounting Department prior to beginning work with Jordan District. The form applies to individuals who will be compensated as independent contractors (1099 employees) or employees paid through payroll for a participating URS employer.

URS retirees who are receiving monthly benefits face specific restrictions on returning to work. Reemployment includes any work performed as an employee or on a contract as a business owner, independent contractor, partner, or principal of the contracting business. Contractors who are URS retirees must contact URS's Retirement Benefits Department at 801-366-7770 before commencing work to complete and file Form RTRT-27A (Post-Retirement Employment form). Failure to report reemployment in violation of Utah Code Section 49-11-1207(2) results in the retiree being liable to repay URS any overpayments resulting from the violation. This verification requirement applies to the A/C Retrofit of School Buses contract being solicited by Jordan School District.
