About this file

This is a Question and Answer document related to the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) procurement for 10 trucks with aerial lifts and service cranes (FY26 Bid 26-494DOT-FINAD-B-49085). The document addresses vendor inquiries regarding pricing structure for trucks with specification variations that include district-specific options and alternative body configurations. The procurement involves multiple truck specifications (T53-60-03-D2, T53-60-10-D5, T53-60-04-D1, and T53-60-04-D4), with some featuring crane bodies and platform configurations designed for various operational and maintenance activities across the state.

Vendors are instructed to submit one comprehensive quote per truck specification that incorporates all district-specific options and alternative body configurations in lieu of the base specification, rather than submitting itemized options or separate quotes for individual components. This approach applies specifically to specifications marked "in lieu of," meaning vendors must price the complete truck configuration including all applicable district-specific modifications as a single line item. Vendors should not break down their pricing into separate quotes for the base specification and optional district-specific add-ons.

Questions and Answers (2) (FY26) Trucks with Aerial Lifts and Service Cranes (10)

26-494DOT-FINAD-B-49085

QUESTION: we are working on how best to provide our pricing. For the following items on this bid, are we to quote one amount per truck for all items listed as “in lieu of” and “in addition to” the base spec or should these be itemized options in addition to the base spec?

For example, T53-60-03-D2 has a platform as the base body and then district specific options – do we need to quote the base platform and then the district options separately, or can we just do one price that includes the district specific options?

· T53-60-10-D5

· T53-60-04-D1

· T53-60-03-D2

· T53-60-04-D4

ANSWER: For any specification that states “in lieu of,” vendors shall submit one quote for the complete truck(s) using the base specification with the utility body replacing the standard base body. The quote should include one price that includes all of the district-specific options for that specification. Do not submit separate quotes for individual components or configurations.

D2 is asking for a crane body “in lieu” of the body in the base spec. See below.
