About this file

This is a specification document issued by the State of Illinois Department of Transportation Bureau of Business Services for the procurement of a trailer-mounted core drilling unit for pavement testing operations. The specification outlines detailed equipment requirements and design standards for a single self-contained unit capable of drilling holes up to 13 inches in diameter. The document does not specify response dates, due dates, site visits, bidder meetings, award dates, or contract term information, as it functions primarily as a technical specification document rather than a formal solicitation notice.

The specification requires bidders to quote on a manufacturer's latest standard model with all specified equipment included in the quoted unit price, with deviations from requirements not acceptable for cost reduction purposes. Key equipment components include a current-production liquid-cooled diesel engine with minimum 24 gross horsepower, a four-speed transmission, a mechanical drilling head with 30-inch minimum spindle travel and 360-degree swivel capability, a hydraulic system with minimum 6 gallons per minute capacity at 1,000 PSI, a 200-gallon stainless-steel water tank, and a compliant trailer chassis with pneumatic leveling jacks and electric brakes. District 5 specifies that all painted components be finished in Ford Race Red code PQ/7236. The successful bidder must provide a manufacturer's standard warranty covering all defective parts and workmanship for a minimum of one year from acceptance, supply all operational and service manuals, and provide factory-qualified instruction to assigned personnel covering operation, routine service, and maintenance of the complete unit.
