About this file
This is an Invitation for Bids (IFB #262809FB) issued by Sarasota County, Florida, for Athletic Field Turf Supply and Installation Services. The County seeks to establish a pre-qualified pool of contractors to supply and install Certified Bermuda turf, including both sod and sprigs, on an as-needed basis. The specific turf types required are Certified TIFTUF Bermuda Turf Sod and Certified Celebration Bermuda Turf Sod and Sprigs, with sod specifications of 42" to 48" width and 1.5" thickness (0.75" grass and 0.75" soil), and sprigs delivered as one bushel per square yard. The initial project described in Attachment A (Foxworthy Park) will be awarded through this solicitation, with subsequent projects issued via OpenGov as quote requests. Bidders must respond to project quotes by specified deadlines, with lack of response treated as project declination. The County anticipates an initial contract term of three years, and failure to provide quotes for three projects within twelve months may result in contract termination at the County's discretion. All work must be completed within 24 hours of harvest for sod and on the same day as harvesting for sprigs, with installation immediately upon arrival.
Bidders must submit lump-sum prices for each project, inclusive of all labor, materials, delivery, installation, equipment, supervision, overhead, and profit. To qualify, contractors must provide verifiable references demonstrating commercial, industrial, or governmental experience with both sod and sprig installation on athletic fields within the preceding seven years, with at least one reference from a governmental institution. Bidders must comply with all County workplace policies, obtain required insurance coverage (Workers' Compensation, Commercial General Liability of $1,000,000 per occurrence, and Business Automobile Liability of $1,000,000 combined single limit), and provide Certificates of Insurance prior to commencing work. Performance and payment bonds are not required as indicated by the "N/A" notation. All turf and materials are warranted for fifteen calendar days from County acceptance, and the County reserves the right to reject any turf deemed unacceptable in quality. Local and American business preferences do not apply due to grant funding requirements. No contingency box was checked, indicating contingency funds are not applicable to this solicitation.
