About this file
This document is Addendum #1 for the Collin County Generator Replacement project for the Juvenile, Animal Shelter, and Cluster 3 facilities, issued by MD Engineering, LLP on June 6, 2025. The addendum addresses two key questions from potential bidders regarding generator specifications and equipment handling. For the generators at the Animal Shelter and Juvenile facility, 24-hour fuel capacity at 100% load is required, while the Cluster 3 Generator will have an 8-hour day tank replenished from a standalone 3,000-gallon tank installed in a previous project.
The addendum clarifies that all generators, except the temporary generator, are to be removed and disposed of by the contractor, who should provide trade-in values for removed equipment. Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS) have specific handling instructions: the Cluster 3 ATS will be removed and replaced, the Juvenile facility's ATS will be disconnected and turned over to the County, and the Animal Shelter's manual ATS will remain in place. The contractor is responsible for disconnecting and reconnecting fuel oil supply and return piping, and transferring current Current Transformers (CTs) to the new ATS as specified in contract documents.

ADDENDUM #1
PROJECT TITLE: Collin County Generator Replacement – Juvenile, Animal Shelter, Cluster 3
MD PROJECT #: 251763
DATE: June 6, 2025
QUESTIONS
Question No.1 – What is the run time (or day tank size) for the generators to be furnished and installed on the project Response: The generators located at the Animal Shelter and Juvenile facility are to have enough fuel to run 24 hours at 100% load. Cluster 3 Generator shall have an 8-hour day tank that is replenished from the standalone 3,000-gallon tank installed as part of another project. This contractor shall disconnect the fuel oil supply and fuel oil return piping from the generator to be removed and modify/reconnect the fuel oil supply and return piping to the new generator.
Question No.2 – What equipment is to be turned over to the County Response: All Generators, except for the temporary generator, are to be removed and disposed by contractor. Bidders shall provide trade-in value for any generator and equipment being removed from site.
The Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS) at Cluster 3 is to be removed by the contractor and replaced with a new ATS. The ATS at Juvenile is to be disconnected and turned over to the County. As indicated in the document, the CT’s in the current ATS are to be removed and reinstalled in the new ATS as indicated in the contract documents. The existing ATS at the animal shelter is a manual ATS and is be left in place. The new ATS for the Animal Shelter will be installed near the new generator as indicated on the documents.
This concludes Addendum 1 items for the referenced project.
