About this file

This document is an Ocean Marine Insurance Policy for the State of Florida, covering multiple state agencies and educational institutions including Florida Atlantic University, Fish and Wildlife Conservation, Florida State University, University of Florida, and the University of South Florida. The policy provides hull and protection & indemnity (P&I) insurance for a diverse fleet of research vessels, patrol boats, and specialized marine craft, with coverage effective from July 2, 2004 to July 2, 2005, and subsequent annual renewals. The policy includes multiple endorsements that add, modify, or remove vessels from the coverage schedule, with hull values ranging from $11,350 to $13,500,000 and P&I limits typically set at $1,000,000 to $2,000,000.

The insurance policy is underwritten by Zurich American Insurance Company and later Great American Insurance Group, with premiums varying based on vessel type, value, and coverage limits. The policy includes comprehensive marine risk coverage, addressing potential losses from various maritime perils, and is structured to accommodate the dynamic needs of state marine operations. Premiums for the policy fluctuate annually, with total annual premiums ranging from approximately $65,000 to $75,000, and include additional fees such as the Florida Hurricane Catastrophe Fund fee. The policy provides flexibility through endorsements that allow for vessel additions, removals, and coverage modifications, reflecting the evolving marine asset portfolio of Florida's state agencies and universities.
