About this file
This document is an Addendum (#3) issued by the Capital Region BOCES (Board of Cooperative Educational Services) for a Request for Bid (RFB #25-018) related to Parts Cleaning and Waste Disposal services for their automotive training facilities in Albany and Schoharie. The addendum addresses specific vendor questions regarding the disposal and cleaning of various materials used in automotive training classes, including clarifications on solvent part numbers, safety data sheets (SDS) for cleaning solutions, and details about waste materials to be disposed of.
The addendum provides detailed information about the types of waste to be managed, including used oils from small, gasoline, and diesel engines; urethane-based paints thinned with paint thinner; aerosol products like spray paint, disinfectant, and cleaners; and dust waste containing paint particulates from auto body class sanding activities. No pesticides are anticipated for disposal. The document corrects a previous part number error for a solvent (changing from QSOL330 to QSOL300) and confirms the specifics of brake cleaner and other cleaning solutions used in the automotive training program, demonstrating a comprehensive approach to documenting and managing industrial waste from educational training environments.

ADDENDUM
Date: January 9, 2025
To: All Vendors and Document Holders
From: Lori Catucci Purchasing Agent
Subject: Addendum # 3 – RFB# 25-018
Parts Cleaning and Waste Disposal
The following information is provided as a result of a question(s) posed by vendor(s). This addendum is hereby added to and made part of the above referenced RFB.
Item #1 Question: Please provide a copy SDS Safety Kleen QSOL330.
Response: The part number QSOL330 as included in the RFB was in error. The correct part number for the solvent currently in use is Safety Kleen QSOL300. A copy of the SDS is included with this addendum.
Item #2 Question: Please provide a copy SDS Copy SDS Safety Kleen 6365. Is this also the aqueous brake cleaner with stand?
Response: A copy of the SDS is included with this addendum. This is the aqueous brake cleaner solution that is used with the stand.
Item #3 Question: Re: Oil Barrels and Oil Filters - what kind of oil is being used, SDS if possible? Is the oil used or unused?
Response: Disposal service is required for various types of used oils and filters used in CTE’s automotive training classes, and will include small engine, gasoline engine and diesel engine oils.
Item #4 Question: Paint Gun Cleaning Station - is the paint mixed with anything? What kind of paint is being cleaned?
Response: Our auto body classroom uses urethane based paints that are thinned with paint thinner.
Item #5 Question: What aerosols are being consolidated in the barrels? Do they have SDS?
Any pesticides?
Response: Cans placed in the barrels may include spray paint, disinfectant, carpet cleaner, graffiti remover, stainless steel cleaner, silicone lubricant, baseboard stripper, white board cleaner and other various aerosol cleaning products. We do not anticipate the need to dispose of pesticides. BOCES does not typically purchase or use spray pesticides.
Item #6 Question: Any potential hazards associated with dust barrels? Is this generic dust?
Response: Dust waste would be generated from the auto body class and contain paint particulates generated from sanding a vehicle.
