About this file
This document is a Statement of Work (SOW) from the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) for the Mission Ridge Forest Restoration project located in the Colockum Wildlife Area in Chelan and Kittitas County. The project requires a geologic specialist or survey firm to prepare a geologic report identifying rule-identified landforms (RIL) in accordance with Washington State Department of Natural Resources Forest Practice Eastside rules. The scope of work includes preparing a geologic map, a report describing boundary determination methods, and a shapefile for field identification. The project involves commercial thinning of approximately 83 acres across 11 units, with the goal of improving ecological integrity, wildlife habitat, and forest health, with a specific focus on enhancing fire-resilience for small mammals like Pikas and avian species.
The project area is situated approximately 20 miles north of Ellensburg, within Section 25 of Township 21 North, Range 19 East W.M. The geologic report will support a timber harvesting project that includes commercial thinning operations and new/reconstructed logging routes totaling 1,986 linear feet (with 345 feet on U.S. Forest Service ownership). The project aims to restore forest conditions to more closely resemble the historic range of variability found in alpine forest types on the Cascades' east slopes before 1880 CE, while also providing defensible space for the Mission Ridge Corporation's assets. The Request for Quotations seeks a Goods and Services Contract to accomplish these ecological restoration and forest management objectives.

Appendix F-Statement of Work
Statement of Work
Introduction/Background:
The Mission Forest Restoration project is intended to improve ecological integrity ratings, habitat for multiple wildlife species, and forest health on the Colockum Wildlife Area. Special emphasis for this project is placed on improving the fire-resiliency of habitat for small mammals such as Pika’s and avian species such as songbirds. This project will also enable defensible space for the Mission Ridge Corporation’s assets.
Approximately 83 acres of overstocked forest stands on 11 units will be commercially thinned to more closely resemble the historic range of variability found in naturally disturbed alpine forest types on the east slopes of the Cascades before 1880 CE.
Scope of work:
Contractor will prepare a geologic report that identifies any possible rule identified landforms (RIL) in accordance with the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (WADNR) Forest Practice Eastside rules for a Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) timber harvesting project.
Harvesting project will be of commercial thinning operations and new construction/re-construction of logging routes and spurs. Project calls for 83 acres of timber harvest and single segment of new road construction totaling to 1,986’ US survey feet (345’ US survey feet on USFS ownership). The contractor shall produce a geologic map of identified RIL boundaries, a short report describing methods used to determine said boundaries and a shapefile that will be used to identify boundaries in the field. (See Exhibit C project area maps).
Purpose and Background
This Request for Quotations seeks responses from Geologic Specialists and/or Geologic survey firms that are interested in a Goods and Services Contract from the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife on the Colockum Wildlife Area in Chelan and Kittitas County, Washington.
The Mission Ridge forest thinning Project is located approximately 20 miles north of the city of Ellensburg. It is part of the WDFW Colockum Wildlife Area in Chelan and Kittitas County, units are located in part of Section 25 of Township 21 North, Range 19 East W.M. (See attached project maps for detailed views).
