About this file

This is an analytical report prepared by Eurofins Fort Lauderdale for Broward County dated June 10, 2026, documenting per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) sampling analysis results from the North Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant (NRWWTP). The report presents laboratory findings for four samples collected on May 6, 2026, and received the same day at 11:50 AM: INF-Raw Water Pompano (185-8307-1), Wheelabrator Meter Pit (185-8307-2), BELTCAKE solids (185-8307-3), and CENTRIFUGE SOLIDS (185-8307-4). Analysis was conducted using EPA Method 1633 via LC/MS/MS between May 12-29, 2026. The samples were properly preserved on ice, with cooler temperature recorded at 1.7°C upon receipt. This revision 1 report updates dry weight corrected results reporting from the original June 5, 2026 submittal and includes complete quality control documentation, detection summaries, and isotope dilution data across multiple PFAS analytes.

The analysis identified significant PFAS contamination levels, particularly in the Wheelabrator Meter Pit sample (185-8307-2), which showed elevated concentrations of perfluorobutanoic acid (10,000 ng/L), perfluorohexanoic acid (3,300 ng/L), perfluoroheptanoic acid (830 ng/L), and perfluorobutanesulfonic acid (11,000 ng/L), among numerous other compounds. The INF-Raw Water Pompano sample contained lower but detectable levels of PFOS (133 ng/L) and other PFAS compounds. Solids samples (BELTCAKE and CENTRIFUGE SOLIDS) demonstrated PFAS detection in micrograms per kilogram, with PFOS, perfluorodecanoic acid, and fluorotelomer compounds prevalent. Quality control procedures including method blanks, laboratory control samples, and duplicate analyses met established acceptance criteria. The report notes specific analytical challenges including ion ratio failures, matrix interference requiring raised reporting limits, and re-extraction procedures for sample 185-8307-2, all of which were documented and addressed through appropriate quality assurance protocols.

REVISION

The report being provided is a revision of the original report sent on 6/5/2026. The report (revision 1) is being revised due to the update in dry weight corrected results reporting.

The analytical test results presented in this report meet all requirements of the associated regulatory program listed on the Accreditation/Certification Summary Page, unless otherwise noted. Data qualifiers and/or narrative comments are included to explain any exceptions, if applicable. Regulated compliance samples (e.g. SDWA, NPDES) must comply with associated agency requirements/permits.

· Matrix-specific batch QC (e.g., MS, MSD, SD) may not be reported when insufficient sample volume is available or when site-specific QC samples are not submitted. In such cases, a Laboratory Control Sample Duplicate (LCSD) may be analyzed to provide precision data for the batch.

· For samples analyzed using surrogate and/or isotope dilution analytes, any recoveries falling outside of established acceptance criteria are re-prepared and/or re-analyzed to confirm results, unless the deviation is due to sample dilution or otherwise explained in the case narrative.

Receipt The samples were received on 5/6/2026 11:50 AM. Unless otherwise noted below, the samples arrived in good condition, and, where required, properly preserved and on ice. The temperature of the cooler at receipt time was 1.7°C.

PFAS

Method 1633: Analyte Perfluorononanoic acid (PFNA) was marked as non-detect for sample CENTRIFUGE SOLIDS (185-8307-4) due to a detection below RL and failing ion ratio.

Method 1633: The recovery for target analyte Nonafluoro-3,6-dioxaheptanoic acid (NFDHA) is outside the QC acceptance limits in the opening continuing calibration verification standard, biased high. Since the result is high and target Nonafluoro-3,6-dioxaheptanoic acid (NFDHA) is not detected in the following sample: INF-Raw Water Pompano (185-8307-1) , the data is reported.

Method 1633: Based on the re-extraction comment, a reduced aliquot was used for the extraction of sample Wheelabrator Meter Pit (185-8307-2). Reporting limits have been raised accordingly.

Method 1633: The sample injection standard peak areas in the following sample: Wheelabrator Meter Pit (185-8307-2) are outside of the QC limits for both the initial injection and the re-injection. The values here are reported from the primary injection of the sample.

Method 1633: Reporting limits were raised for the following sample: Wheelabrator Meter Pit (185-8307-2) due to interference from the sample matrix.

Method 1633: Analyte 3-Perfluoropropylpropanoic acid (3:3 FTCA) and 3-Perfluoropentylpropanoic acid (5:3 FTCA) is out of QC acceptance limits in the lower-level laboratory control spike (LLCS) in sample: Wheelabrator Meter Pit (185-8307-2). Since the recovery for this analyte is within QC acceptance limits in the laboratory control spike (LCS), the laboratory control spike duplicate (LCSD), the data is reported.

No additional analytical or quality issues were noted, other than those described above or in the Definitions/ Glossary page.

General Chemistry No additional analytical or quality issues were noted, other than those described above or in the Definitions/ Glossary page.
