About this file
This Information Letter No. 3 is issued by the California Department of Water Resources (DWR) for the Full Pipe Penetration Replacement Deferred Maintenance Program at Davis Sites 545 and 549, Contract No. C51674, Specification No. 24-13 in Yolo County. The letter provides clarification responses to two contractor questions regarding buried utilities and material testing methods. The first clarification identifies the southernmost buried utilities on sheet C-101 and C-201 as an 8" diameter gas line from CPN Pipeline Co., and the northern buried utility as an ATT utility cable, with specific instructions for contractor compliance regarding excavation near these utilities.
The second clarification addresses material testing methods, confirming that ASTM D1557 should be used for establishing compaction curves as specified in Section 02305 – Earthwork Testing, paragraph 3.01.B.1. The letter references Addendum No. 2 which updates Section 02300 - Earthwork, paragraphs 3.03D and 3.03E accordingly. The letter is dated January 29, 2025 and directs additional questions to be sent to doe_specs@water.ca.gov.
