About this file
This document is an Amendment No. 5 to Agreement No. 18B01 between the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and Broward County for the Broward County Shore Protection Project - Segment II. The amendment extends the agreement for a twelve-month period from July 2, 2025, to July 1, 2026, for a beach erosion control and inlet management project located between Department of Environmental Protection reference monuments R36 to R41.3 and R51 to R72 along the Atlantic Ocean in Broward County, Florida. The project was initially restored in 1970 and has undergone subsequent nourishment and repair projects, including work following Hurricane Sandy in 2012 and a small beach fill project in 2014.
The total estimated project cost is $8,502,876.35, with 81.44 percent of the non-federal project cost (up to $1,554,605.00) eligible for cost sharing. The project consists of construction and post-construction monitoring, divided into two primary tasks: Construction (with a budget of $4,440,875.06) and Monitoring (with a budget of $244,210.00). The funding breakdown includes state and federal contributions, with the local sponsor responsible for auditing travel reimbursement expenses. The project will be conducted in accordance with Department of Environmental Protection permits and the Beach Erosion Control Project standards, with all data collection and processing required to comply with specific monitoring guidelines.
