About this file
This Addendum #3, issued by the Town of Stratford, Connecticut on May 22, 2026, provides clarifications and supplemental instructions for the Ceiling Replacement project at Flood Middle School Library located at 490 Chapel Street, Stratford, Connecticut (Town Project Number 2026-28). The addendum addresses 24 requests for information submitted by prospective bidders between May 14 and May 21, 2026, establishing critical project scope definitions. Key clarifications include: the Town will move existing furniture; the contractor is responsible for protecting built-in fixtures, stacks, and shelving, providing temporary floor protection, professional final cleaning, and necessary temporary lighting; the contractor applies for the building permit; the contractor arranges for a licensed sprinkler contractor to relocate five sprinkler heads at the existing ceiling height; the contractor removes and replaces all ceiling-mounted devices except lighting fixtures, which the town's electrical contractor will handle; the contractor provides and installs new HVAC grilles; and the Town waives permit fees. The contractor must use onsite dumpster and restroom facilities, with no temporary toilets or third-party testing required. Hazardous materials testing results were pending inclusion in a subsequent addendum at the time of this issuance.
The addendum confirms that the scope is limited to the library space with final cleaning requirements adjusted to restore the room to pre-construction condition rather than broader building standards. No plumbing impact is anticipated, and no temporary sprinkler protection is required during construction. All responses were directed to the Project Architect/Project Manager (Snyder) and the Board of Education, with responses provided within three to five days of questions received. The clarifications establish clear delineation of responsibilities between the general contractor, electrical contractor, and town to prevent conflicts and ensure comprehensive coverage of all work required for project completion.

7 From Drawings A-101 Ceiling Plan – LEGEND, States:
-New Light Fixtures to be Provided and Installed by others (obviously by the Electrical Contractor awarded this project), Should the removal of the existing lighting fixtures and Light Motion Sensors (to be saved to reuse) also be included in the Electrical Contractor's scope?
The question arises because the Ceiling Replacement BID # 2026-28 doesn’t include any electrical work.
To prevent and/or avoid any discrepancies or conflicts, the concern is:
If the removal and disposal of existing lighting fixtures, accessories, and motion sensors is performed by someone other than the Electrical Contractor, SOME ITEMS, DEVICES, AND/OR WIRE CIRCUITS could be missed or misplaced, which could affect the Electrical Contractor's work.
PLEASE CLARIFY if the Removal and Disposal of existing Lighting Fixtures and Motion Sensors are on the Electrical Contractor's Scope of Work or not. So we can bid accordingly.

GC responsible for removal and replacement for ALL other ceiling mounted devises including but not limited to smoke detectors, clocks, speakers, sprinkler heads, etc ...
