About this file
This is Addendum #2 to a procurement issued by the Town of Stratford, Connecticut for ceiling replacement work at Flood Middle School Library located at 490 Chapel Street, Stratford, Connecticut. The addendum, issued on May 20, 2026, provides supplemental instructions and clarifications through a comprehensive Requests for Information (RFI) log addressing 23 questions submitted by bidders between May 14 and May 20, 2026. Key clarifications include: the client will move existing furniture; the contractor is responsible for protecting existing built-ins, stacks, and other conditions; the contractor must professionally clean and return spaces to pre-construction condition; the town is waiving permit fees but the contractor is responsible for applying for the building permit; the town's electrical contractor will remove, save, and dispose of existing light fixtures while the general contractor is responsible for removing and replacing all other ceiling-mounted devices including smoke detectors, clocks, speakers, and sprinkler heads; the contractor must provide temporary lighting, floor protection, and arrange onsite dumpster placement; and the new ceiling height will match the existing elevation with sprinkler heads trimmed out to match existing conditions. Additionally, the contractor is responsible for retaining a licensed sprinkler contractor to relocate five sprinkler heads as included in the base bid, providing new HVAC grilles as existing grilles will not fit the new ACT grid, and determining whether HVAC subcontractor services are necessary. The contractor must use existing building toilet facilities and can arrange casual onsite meetings without provided furniture.
The addendum confirms that existing ceiling materials are being tested for hazardous materials with results to be included in a subsequent addendum, that third-party testing is not necessary for the work, and that there is no known plumbing impact to the project. No pricing information, set-asides, incumbent contractors, or funding sources are specified in this addendum document. The responses were directed to the project architect/project manager Snyder and the Board of Education, with all responses provided by May 19 or May 20, 2026, prior to the May 28, 2026 sealed bid submission deadline.

7 From Drawings A-101 Ceiling Plan – LEGEND, States:
-New Light Fixtures to be Provided and Installed by others (obviously by the Electrical Contractor awarded this project), Should the removal of the existing lighting fixtures and Light Motion Sensors (to be saved to reuse) also be included in the Electrical Contractor's scope?
The question arises because the Ceiling Replacement BID # 2026-28 doesn’t include any electrical work.
To prevent and/or avoid any discrepancies or conflicts, the concern is:
If the removal and disposal of existing lighting fixtures, accessories, and motion sensors is performed by someone other than the Electrical Contractor, SOME ITEMS, DEVICES, AND/OR WIRE CIRCUITS could be missed or misplaced, which could affect the Electrical Contractor's work.
PLEASE CLARIFY if the Removal and Disposal of existing Lighting Fixtures and Motion Sensors are on the Electrical Contractor's Scope of Work or not. So we can bid accordingly.

GC responsible for removal and replacement for ALL other ceiling mounted devises including but not limited to smoke detectors, clocks, speakers, sprinkler heads, etc ...
