About this file
This document is a detailed set of technical specifications for the Jumbo Evans Sports Park Infield Artificial Turf Installation project in Comal County, Texas. The project involves comprehensive artificial turf installation across six baseball/softball fields (Fields A through F), with each field requiring specific sub-grade preparation, drainage system installation, and turf implementation. The specifications include excavating 4 inches deep centered on the pitcher's mound, installing drainage trenches, placing a plastic barrier, installing perforated pipes, and laser grading with limestone. Each field requires installing composite nailer boards, inlaying white lines, and spreading specific amounts of SBR rubber and silica sand infill.
The artificial turf must meet precise technical specifications, including a KMTXProF 50 oz turf with a 1 ¾" pile height, UV stabilization, polyurethane backing, and specific performance characteristics like water permeability and fiber thickness. The project includes warranty requirements, with 2-year warranties on seam work and base work, and an 8-year warranty on the artificial turf itself. The contractor is responsible for adjusting irrigation systems, installing base plugs, and leaving cut turf pieces for future repairs. Each field has slightly different dimensions and base configurations, ranging from standard Little League fields to larger playing areas, with pitcher's mounds located at varying distances from home plate.

Base Preparation
Exit Point for perforated drainage system.
Final location to be approved by Comal County.
• Excavate 10,085 SF to a depth of 4” centered on pitchers mound, located 50’ from home plate, standard 50-70 Little League field
• Where radius intersects foul line, excavation shall extend perpendicular to the fence line
• Compact and laser grade sub-grade to level surface
• Install 4” deep trenches every 20’ O.C. throughout excavated area
• Install 6 millimeter plastic barrier on top of compacted sub-grade and in trenches.
• Install 4” perforated pipes within trenches with outfall point at location identified.
• Install, compact and laser grade 2” of #57 and #67 clean limestone, including in drainage trenches.
• Adjust, cap, and move existing irrigation lines/sprinkler heads/valve boxes, as needed, during excavation and reroute any necessary lines to ensure proper irrigation coverage of existing grass.
