About this file

The document is a Project Manual for the Cantini Mosaics Panels Design project, prepared by Landmarks SGA, LLC for the City of Pittsburgh, involving the reinstallation of mosaic panels at the Pittsburgh Regional Transit Steel Plaza Station. The project involves the modification of an interior corridor to accommodate the installation of a series of mosaic panels, including wall finish modifications, accent light fixtures, and preservation of existing floor and ceiling finishes. The work will be executed through multiple coordinated contracts, with Contract 01 focused on general construction and Contract 02 handling electrical work, including lighting fixtures and fire-alarm system relocation.

The project will involve precise installation of 28 unique mosaic panels, with a total artwork weight of approximately 3,881 pounds, sourced from McKay Lodge Conservation Laboratory. The installation requires careful coordination with Pittsburgh Regional Transit (PRT) and BNY Mellon, with specific work restrictions including limited on-site work hours (8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday), potential utility interruptions during non-revenue hours (1:30 a.m. - 4:30 a.m.), and strict access and background screening requirements for all personnel. The project demands meticulous attention to detail, including specific mounting requirements, tile arrangements, and protection of existing infrastructure during the reinstallation process.
