LABOR CATEGORY DESCRIPTIONS
Labor Categories Descriptions
| Videographer / Floor Director |
| Advanced sense of aesthetics for commercial television, set design, lighting, IFB utilization, and proficiency in all the television crafts areas. |
| Audio Engineer / Producer |
| Organize, produce and ensure file quality and conversion for audio created as part of live or pre-recorded segments to include audio and video podcasts, public service announcements, live media uplinks, and field audio. Responsible for the operation of a digital audio workstation (DAWS) for audio/video sweetening, editing, and audio-only productions. Experience mixing and troubleshooting both live and pre-recorded audio and video productions. Travel required. |
| Video Producer |
| Responsible for producing/directing a range of live and pre-recorded video segments to include live media uplinks with commercial networks, in-studio interviews with subject matter experts, “green screen” segments incorporating graphic elements, in both long and short form. Responsibilities include scriptwriting, script editing, storyboarding. Must have proficiencies in the other television crafts areas. |
Editor for Television
Editing of both long and short form video projects with non-linear digital editing systems, specifically those from Avid, Inc. Edit several programs concurrently, employ up to date editing techniques while introducing new techniques and tools. Must also be able to serve in multiple crafts areas (e.g. lighting, production, technical director).
| Multimedia Specialist |
| Responsible for file conversion, web streaming support, media duplication and achieving. IT experience with file compression software such as Sorenson Squeeze and understanding of data server programming and issues. Experience with and ability to provide other craft services such as lighting and audio support, teleprompter and telecommunications systems. |
| Broadcast Engineer |
| Knowledge and demonstrated competency in: |
· Digital and analog video and audio electronics theory and circuit design
· Alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) power distribution and grounding
· Servo system theory and circuit design.
· Computerized machine control theory and circuit design.
· Computer switching systems theory and circuit design.
· Video and audio recording theory and circuit design.
· Television equipment theory and circuit design.
· Fiber optic transmission/reception theory and circuit design.
· Satellite uplink and downlink theory and circuit design.
· Complex systems drafting theory and mechanical drawing.
· Computer literacy.
· Automated and manual parts and supplies inventory control systems.
· Automated and manual equipment maintenance history and records.
· Development and implementation of daily equipment and systems set-up and long term equipment preventative maintenance regimens.
| IT Systems Engineer |
| Expertise in the following areas: |
· IT management for 64-bit editing stations with Matrox (RTX and Axio) hardware
· IT management for 32-bit power stations.
· IT management for Facilis 9TB virtual volume SAN
· IT management for FIA Inc. 1TB NAS and users
· IT management for 50 nodes network rendering farm
· IT management for Avid video editing systems hardware and software
Motion Graphic Designer/Artist
Knowledge of the following design programs: 3D Max, Discreet, Avid (non-linear editing), Photoshop, Macromedia products. i.e. Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Flash and Freehand, as well as other applications such as PowerPoint, Acrobat, and scanning programs. planning and producing 3D graphics, animations, and print instructional and marketing materials and provide graphic design services and expertise; this includes print media as well as Web.
Sign Language Translation
Qualified and/or certified by screening as recognized by the National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or equivalent agency. Performing one or more of the following: American Sign Language, Pidgin Signed English (PSE), Oral Approach, and/or Finger spelling with the ability to understand and interpret medical and health-related terminology.
| Editor |
| Experienced professional with well-rounded teleproduction experience. Must exhibit a well-developed sense of aesthetics for editing programs and able to serve in multiple crafts areas. |
| Videographer |
| Knowledge of videography techniques, materials, processes and equipment to provide high quality videos of events, including conferences, press briefings, meetings, receptions, and group gatherings of various types. A minimum of 3 years of videography experience. |
Web Development Specialist
Hands-on experience using the following web development tools and technologies:
Macromedia web development products and their corresponding scripting languages (e.g., Dreamweaver, UltraDev, Flash, Fireworks, and Authorware)
HTML
XML
JavaScript Web Servers
Knowledge of and/or experience using the following web development tools, technologies, and standards is desired:
ASP (Active Server Pages) SMIL (Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language) Photoshop Screen Readers American with Disabilities Act (Section 508) ADL’s Shareable Content Objects Reference Model
Moderator
On-camera broadcast professional, with a minimum of three years, live, network experience. A seasoned broadcaster, comfortable interacting with professionals and amateurs alike.

| Be an active member of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) or the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA), or shall be represented by a recognized talent agency. |
Script Writer
Experience in the role of writer (narrative or magazine). Experience writing for Federal public health agencies and/or health related programs. A Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree with emphasis on the English Language, Communications, Television or Education. Minimum of five years broadcast television experience.
Instructional Designer
Evaluation Services Support Specialist
Extensive knowledge and experience using Excel and Word.
Some knowledge of PowerPoint and Access.
Closed Captioning Specialist
