About this file
This is a sole source vendor justification document from the Digital Library Systems Group in Florida, dated January 1, 2026, supporting the procurement of Opus Production Digitization System Software integrated with Bookeye and WideTEK scanning technology. The document outlines the justification for sole source procurement based on Image Access, Inc.'s exclusive development and ownership of the OPUS software line (OPUS FREEFLOW LITE, OPUS FREEFLOW, and OPUS FREEFLOW MD) and their exclusive distribution rights in North America for academic and research library markets. The procurement addresses the University Archives' need for large-format scanning equipment suitable for archival materials, with DLSG identified as the only authorized reseller for the Bookeye scanner series. The OPUS Standard software package represents the established standard that University Archives currently utilizes for its digitization workflows.
Image Access, Inc., located at 543 NW 77th St., Boca Raton, Florida, is the sole manufacturer and worldwide rights holder for the Bookeye scanner line and the OPUS software products. The vendor offers specialized application software designed exclusively for Bookeye and WideTEK scanners, creating integrated scanning solutions tailored for three library-specific functions: interlibrary loan document delivery (BSCAN ILL), archive department production digitization, and self-serve scanning kiosks (Knowledge Imaging Center). The combination of proprietary hardware and software integration creates a complete solution that maximizes operational efficiency for library digitization operations. The sole source justification is based on the unique integration between the software and hardware, the vendor's exclusive manufacturing and distribution rights, and the established workflow compatibility with the university's existing systems.
