About this file
This document contains special provisions for a Florida County resurfacing project on NE 58th Avenue, a 3.09-mile roadway improvement initiative. The scope of work includes reclaiming and widening the existing roadway, constructing driveway and side street aprons, removing and adding cross drains and end treatments, installing and restriping pavement markings, and sodding shoulders. The total contract duration is 180 calendar days, including approximately 21 days from substantial completion to project closeout, with county-observed holidays excluded from work authorization unless approved 48 hours in advance. The successful bidder must submit a detailed schedule at the Pre-Construction Conference and commence work within 15 calendar days of receiving the Notice to Proceed. The contractor is responsible for ongoing mowing, ensuring proper drainage through culvert cleaning and outlet swale grading, maintaining existing stormwater drainage patterns, preventing ponding at side road aprons, resetting survey monuments, and providing as-built documentation.
Liquidated damages will be assessed at daily rates based on the original contract amount, ranging from $904 per day for contracts under $299,999 to $10,224 plus 0.00005 of any amount over $40 million for contracts of $40 million and above. The contractor will not receive allowances for increases in liquid asphalt costs. Additional sod requirements beyond the specified quantity for the Roadside Sod pay item will be considered incidental to the Earthwork pay item. All erosion control, water pollution prevention and abatement measures, and associated materials are included within the contractor's obligations and costs.
