About this file
This is a technical specification document for a booster pump skid upgrade project issued by Fillmore City, Utah. The project involves the procurement and installation of a duplex pressure boosting pump system consisting of two Grundfos CR20-4 vertical multistage pumps, each equipped with a 10-horsepower premium motor operating at 230 volts, single phase, 60 hertz. The system is designed to operate at a single pump capacity of 90 gallons per minute with a total dynamic head of 220 feet and includes control panels with variable frequency drives, liquid level switches for dry run protection, pressure sensors, and associated electrical components. The specification requires acceptable manufacturers or equivalent equipment, with submissions due by March 2, 2026, at 1:00 PM MT to Fillmore City at 75 West Center, Fillmore, UT 84631. Questions regarding the bidding documents should be directed to Kevin Orton at recorder@fillmoreutah.gov.
The specification establishes detailed performance and design criteria requiring the pump and motor assemblies to be rated for continuous duty operation and to include a five-year, 10,000-hour manufacturer's warranty. Installation requirements include construction of a pump house, connection to existing piping systems, and electrical integration in accordance with manufacturer recommendations. System startup procedures mandate a six-hour continuous operation test period and written certification from a qualified manufacturer's representative confirming proper installation and operation. The specification references multiple standards including AWWA, NEMA, ASTM, and Hydraulic Institute standards for quality control testing, dynamic balancing, and vibration analysis. Additional requirements include comprehensive submittals of product data, performance curves, installation instructions, test reports, and operation and maintenance documentation, with instruction of Owner personnel on proper operation, maintenance procedures, and warranty conditions.

2.4 OPERATION
A. Booster Pump Operation: System consists of two booster pumps with controls. Control operation of each booster pump by position of selector switch, Hand-Off-Automatic, on front of booster pump starter panel.
1. Hand Operation: Under normal conditions when selector switch is turned from Off to Hand, relays will be energized, which energizes booster pump motor. One or both booster pumps may be operated at same time. When selector switch is turned from Hand to Off, relays are de-energized which cuts power to motor and stops booster pump motor. Timer delay relay prevents booster pump motor from starting during booster pump back spin. Provide relay to shut booster pumps off if low water level is sensed in suction piping.
2. Automatic Operation: When selector switch is switched to Automatic, start and stop sequences for booster pumps will initiate at predetermined downstream pressures and flow rates, as well as water levels in tanks as determined by pressure transducers. Switch lead and lag pump after each operation. Provide relay to shut booster pumps off if low water level is sensed in suction piping.
3. Alarm: Activate alarm system for conditions as follows:
a. Low water level in tanks.
b. Failure of pump motor to start.
c. Excessive high downstream pressure.
