About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) notice for Solicitation 191T7025Q0025, concerning an External Staircase Removal and Replacement project. The Q&A provides a detailed steel weight estimation for the staircase structure, using S275 grade steel. The breakdown includes weights for main beams (UPN 240), columns (70x70x4 mm and 60x60x4 mm), step supports, tread plates, and handrails. The total estimated steel weight is 1,204 kg, with an additional 15% (181 kg) added for waste, plates, welding, and bolts, bringing the total estimated weight to 1,385 kg. The document explicitly states that this calculation is for reference only and the final verification of steel weight remains the responsibility of the contract awardee.

Questions and Answers Notice ID 191T7025Q0025 – External Staircase Removal and Replacement

1 Q – Can you please provide an estimate of the steel weight required for the structure?

1 A - Steel to be used: S275 •A - Main beams: UPN 240, 6.1 m * 2 m * 33.2 Kg/m = 405 Kg •B - Column: 70x70x4 mm, 2.25 m * 8.29 Kg/m = 18.65 Kg •C - Column: 60x60x4 mm, 1.83 m * 7.03 Kg/m = 13 Kg •D - Step supports: (reinforcement between UPN beams for each step and landing), 7 Kg/m * 0.81 m

* 23 = 130 Kg •Tread plates: 6 mm thick (0.5 m * 0.81 m * 52.1 Kg/m²) * 25 = 527 Kg •Handrail: (50 * 0.785 Kg/m) + (16 m * 4.43 Kg/m) = 110 Kg

Estimated total:

Sum of the weights above = 1204 Kg Add 15% for waste, plates, welding, and bolts = 1204 Kg * 0.15 = 1385 Kg

This calculation is provided for reference purposes only and shall not be considered final. The final verification of the steel weight remains the sole responsibility of the awardee.
