Mitigation Mitigation Date
RADON EXPLANATORY NOTES
The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has established a radon action level of 4.0 picoCuries per liter (pCi/L). Occupied buildings with radon concentrations less than 4.0 pCi/L do not require radon mitigation; un-occupied buildings, or those buildings which are occupied only infrequently for brief periods of time, also do not require radon mitigation. Occupied buildings with radon concentrations greater than
4.0 pCi/L require radon mitigation and verification of radon reductions as soon as possible, with priority given to dormitories and student recreation buildings. Occupied buildings with radon concentrations greater than 20.0 pCi/L should be considered significant radon exposure hazards, and priority for mitigation should be given to buildings with these highly elevated radon concentrations.
Radon mitigation techniques include: (1) adjustment of the building HVAC system to create a positive pressure within the building; (2) sealing of foundation wall cracks, penetrations, or other openings;
(3) sealing crawlspace openings and sump pits; (4) installing an active subslab depressurization (ASD) system.

Service is brought to the center from primary overhead lines along Highway 51 east of the campus. The system is radial with single point of entry at the center main entrance where primary metering occurs. From the entry point at the east, the primary overhead lines branch out to the southwest and northwest serving buildings throughout the center. The secondary services are mostly underground with pole-mounted transformers. There are two small capacity movable gas-engine-driven generators located in Warehouse Building 7.

GENERAL SITE CONDITION
Rating X
Good Fair Poor
The site has poor drainage. Broken/separated underground storm drain lines are deteriorated and leaking causing depressions and sinkholes. During periods of heavy rain large quantities of run-off flow in to the sinkholes increasing the rate of erosion. Roadways and paved concrete surfaces are deteriorated exhibiting potholes throughout the Center.
Due to high water levels during flooding seasons the drainage ditch embankments are eroded. Soil was also washed out from underneath concrete approach aprons making both bridges unsafe to use.
