About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) clarification issued for Request for Quotation 15BBNF26Q00000048 regarding the upgrade of the Health Services Elevator at FCI Englewood. The solicitation was extended with offers due on 5/8/2026. This is a turnkey project requiring the elevator contractor to complete all work including fire safety and electrical components necessary for a complete elevator modernization.
Key technical and contractual requirements clarified include: a new geared machine is mandatory (gearless machines are not acceptable); emergency video communications are not required due to existing security cameras, though contractors must provide video capability for entrapment assessment per Section B subsections 2.1(b) and 2.6(f); any components not specifically identified as "retain, reuse, or refurbish" shall be replaced with new equipment, including wind-up safeties and emergency brakes covered under Section B subsection 2.2(O); hall control station specifications are addressed in Section B subsection 2.8; and all contractor bids must include a 12-month manufacturer's warranty for completed work. The original elevator is assumed to date from the 1938 building construction. On-site material storage accommodations include a 48" to 60" job box available on the mid-level floor near the elevator and/or in the rooftop mechanical room (which has limited access), with tool control and storage to be discussed during the pre-construction meeting.
