About this file
This is a Q&A document providing additional clarifications from a site visit regarding boiler control replacements at FCI Sandstone prison facility. The document addresses four specific technical questions about the boiler control system upgrade project.
The Q&A clarifies that the existing Siemens (Weishaupt) servo actuators do not need replacement as they are compatible with the new LMV 52 system. The existing pressure transducers will remain in place. The existing gas flow meters will not be connected to the new Siemens LMV 52 due to compatibility and accuracy concerns - instead, a temporary Siemens instantaneous flow meter will be used during commissioning. Regarding BMS integration, the contractor is only required to provide BACnet communication and a points list for the prison's controls contractor, who will handle the full tie-in, programming, and graphics integration with the site's existing building management system.

FCI Sandstone Replace Boiler Controls – Site Visit Q&A’s - Additional
1. Are the four Siemens (Weishaupt) servo actuators to be replaced on each boiler along with the LMV?
- No the servos should be compatible with the new LMV 52.
2. Are we to replace the pressure transducers for each boiler that are reading the steam pressure?
- No
3. Are we to connect the existing gas flow meters to the new Siemens lmv 52 if possible?
- No because there’s an issue with compatibility and we can’t verify accuracy of such old flow meters. I planned on using an instantaneous flow meter during commissioning and removing once done. Then that information is given to the master panel and the master panel with relay what that output is (the fuel flow meter that I use is Siemens).
4. Are we to provide BACnet communication and a points list for the Sandstone Prison's controls contractor to pull burner info into the existing site bms? Or, do we need to INCLUDE the full tie in, programming, and graphics, to the sites existing BMS for monitoring?
- Yes, the first one. The rest would be done by their controls person.
