FPC DULUTH – BAS SYSTEM
PROJECT 4C2X QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
SOLICITATION 15B40218B00000003
Egan Co.:
In the previous Q&A document(BBA Construction Question #2) referenced the existing devices will be used. I took this to mean that the intention is to use the Metasys controllers that are existing to the buildings as well as the sensing devices (i.e. temperature sensors).
1. Is it safe to assume that the intention was to place an N4 device (Jace 8) in each building as the supervisory controller? Yes, that was the intention. (clarification)
2. This would consist of tying in the comm network between field controllers for only that building, and then each of those IP supervisory controllers will be combined at a PC/Server level supervisor access? Each building will have individual N4 device and the BOP will provide an ether net connection. (clarification)
3. My understanding was that IP network access was going to be brought to each building for that purpose, can you verify? Yes, the BOP bring
IP access to each building. (clarification)
4. The update of not having any database, invalid points lists as well as no system files makes me wonder if the intention was to replace the field controllers? It can be done to be brought into each system, but I am not sure the cost associated with the detective work and rebuilding existing systems would be in the best interest of the BOP.
That a more cost-appropriate method would be replacement of field devices that are IP based themselves with BACnet protocol can be integrated into that Supervisor server. Noted (clarification)
