About this file
This is a Questions & Answers document for Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Aliceville's fire suppression system replacement solicitation (15B318Q00000016). The document clarifies key information regarding the scope and site visit procedures for this new contract opportunity with the Department of Justice Bureau of Prisons.
The contract requires replacement of fire suppression dry valves and air compressors that were originally installed in 2011. No prior repairs or maintenance work has been completed on the existing system since the last solicitation. Prospective contractors should note that the original equipment information—including photographs of dry pipe valves and air compressor data plates, manufacturer and model numbers, valve quantity confirmations, and previous inspection or deficiency reports—can be obtained during a scheduled site visit rather than provided electronically. Site visits are coordinated by email with the contracting point of contact, with bidders required to submit four date and time options for scheduling. Access to FCI Aliceville requires that each individual visitor complete an NCIC form for security clearance approval prior to entry. The solicitation deadline has been extended to July 27, 2028, at 12:00 p.m. CST. This is a new competitive opportunity with no incumbent contractor.
