Outside Service Company Representative Notice

The US Capitol Power Plant

Because the mere presence of ACM in a building does not pose a hazard, the US Capitol Power Plant has established an Asbestos Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Program to manage these materials in place. This O&M program includes precautions to avoid disturbing ACM. The program also includes safe work procedures for conducting work in areas where ACM is present and emergency procedures to be followed if ACM is disturbed during the performance of routine building operations and maintenance activities.

Your cooperation is essential for the implementation of this program. We ask that you become familiar with potential locations of ACM (a brief summary of the materials is attached) and avoid any activities that may disturb it. We have also established a notification/authorization system for any activities that may impact ACM. If you determine that your contracted service may cause you to impact ACM, contact the Asbestos Program Administrator prior to initiating the job to ensure the area is either free of ACM or the ACM is properly repaired to minimize the potential for disturbance. If your activities in this building will require you to disturb ACM, you must receive written authorization from the O&M Program Administrator. Your activities, including the use of qualified and protected workers, must comply with all applicable regulations and the O&M program.

Note: Unl ess otherwise labeled. all suspect materials shall be assumed positive.

Please return a signed copy of this letter to acknowledge your understanding of this program and your intent to comply with applicable regulations.

If you have more specific questions regarding the potential to disturb asbestos, please contact the O&M Program Administrator . The O&M program is available for your review in my office. I am also available for any questions or concerns you may have.

Sincerely, Francie Altermatt

Environmental Engineer
