About this file

This document is a detailed technical drawing set for the Navajo-Gallup Water Supply Project's Intake and River Pumping Plant, specifically focusing on slide gates, baffle gates, trashrack panels, steel manifolds, air chambers, and water quality monitoring stations. The drawings, prepared by the Bureau of Reclamation, provide comprehensive engineering specifications for multiple infrastructure components, including gate configurations (such as 72" x 48" fabricated slide gates), structural steel details, piping layouts, and cathodic protection systems.

The drawings cover critical technical aspects such as gate operations, material specifications (predominantly stainless steel), installation requirements, and integration of various mechanical and electrical systems. Key components include slide gates with different dimensions and purposes (flow modulation, sluicing), trashrack panels with structural steel configurations, air chambers with detailed mounting and support specifications, and water quality monitoring station installations with precise sensor mounting instructions. The technical drawings are part of a pre-solicitation notice (Solicitation Number: 140R4025R0023) for the Navajo-Gallup Water Supply Project's Intake and River Pumping Plant, indicating an upcoming federal procurement opportunity for complex water infrastructure development.

NOTES

1. Gate manufacturer to determine if Gate No. 1 will be mounted to existing thimble, wall mounted, or propose some other solution. Dimensions of existing thimble are for information only, condition, and dimensions of existing equipment should be field verified prior to fabrication. See Information Drawing 22078-C9-5.

2. Gate No. 1 to be designed to withstand fast moving debris, floating ice, and occasional submersion in sediment. Gates, anchorage, structural support members, debris deflector, and connections to be contractor designed. Equipment shown is for illustration only.

3. If the Gate No. 1 is to be mounted on existing cast iron thimble, refurbish thimble and studs and use electrical isolation gasket to prevent galvanic corrosion, see specifications.

4. Stem guides: See specifications for guide spacing and stem diameter requirements.

5. Position indication to be integral to gate actuator, hand wheel for manual operation to be placed 4' ± 6" above deck, orient actuator for safe and ergonomic access to handwheel, position indicator, and actuator controls. Coordinate with misc. metal and electrical designs. Minimize intrusion into walkway.

6. See Dwg. 1695-D-62264, P & ID for control electrical, and flow information.

NOTES

1. Equipment shown is for illustration only. Exact dimensions and details are dependant on manufacturer's design.

2. Stem guides: See specifications for guide spacing and stem diameter requirements.

3. Position indication to be integral to gate and baffle actuators, hand-wheel for manual operation to be placed 4' ± 6" above deck. Orient actuator for safe and ergonomic access to handwheel, position indicator, and actuator controls. Coordinate with misc. metal and electrical designs. Minimize intrusion into walkway.

4. Baffle Gates to be designed for continuous use in either fully lowered or fully raised (6') position and nominally identical / interchangeable.

Occasional unseating flow may occur and is a design consideration. See dwg. 1695-D-62265 for P & ID.

STEEL MANIFOLD

PLAN

1695-D-62271

1. Provide nuts, bolts, and gaskets suitable for cold water service.

2. All flanges shall be AWWA Class F as shown on the drawings, or as noted otherwise.

3. Valves and flanges:

All valve body flanges to be connected to AWWA flanges to be furnished with a finished flat face.

AWWA Class 250B Butterfly valves to be bolted to AWWA Class F flanges.

AWWA Class 300 Ball valves to be bolted to AWWA Class F flanges.

AWWA 300 PSI rated butterfly valves to be bolted to AWWA Class F flanges.

ANSI Class 150 valves to be bolted to AWWA Class E flanges.

ANSI Class 250 check valves to be bolted to AWWA Class F flanges.

4. See Dwg. (62276) for Buried Valve Actuator detail.

5. Thread-O-Lets may be substituted for 3000 lb. steel welding couplings and half couplings.

6. ASME B16.9 Std. tees may be substituted for tees fabricated with welding pads and wrapper plates.

7. All elbows shall be long radius unless otherwise noted.

8. At locations where fittings have a greater wall thickness than steel piping, machine to match lighter pipe wall and taper excess thickness internally to form transition zone.

9. Factory-made wrought buttwelding fittings end preparation: Straight bore followed by a 30° slope or a taper bore at a maximum slope of 1 to 4 for a minimum of 2 times the pipe minimum wall.

10. Welding symbols apply to the joints of all members of similar identification.

REFERENCE DRAWINGS

11. All fillet welds shall be returned.

12. Pipe couplings:

Multi-segmented (2 or more piece) split sleeve-type or grooved-end type as shown. Restrained flexible spit sleeve type couplings for dynamic joint deflection: gap per manufacturers' recommendation.

Restrained flexible split sleeve type couplings are spaced to accomodate 2" of differential settlement. Alternative restrained flexible couplings to accomodate differential settlement may be bmitted subject to Government approval.

13. Hydrostatic test pressures:

Unit discharge manifold to AWWA Class 300 motor-operated ball valve: 426 psig.

Discharge manifold: 285 psig.

14. Use epoxy grout for flange supports as shown on 40-D-7018 and 40-D-5328.

15. Additional fittings, flanges, or welded joints added by the Contractor to facilitate installation are subject to Government approval.

16. Remove existing 42" Class 150 DI pipe and fittings as required to make connection to new pipe and flange adapter. See Dwg. (62032).

17. Dimensions marked with an asterisk (*) to be field verified.

18. All threaded fittings to be ASME B16.11 Class 3000, unless otherwise noted.

19. For Drawing Index, see Dwg. (62028).
