About this file

This file is a detailed technical drawing (00_00_02_Dwgs-B_001-100_22x34_04-20-2025_4.pdf) for the Navajo-Gallup Water Supply Project's San Juan Lateral - Reach 1 Intake and River Pumping Plant located near Farmington, New Mexico. The drawing set provides comprehensive site plans, excavation details, utility layouts, and grading specifications for a new water infrastructure project involving a river intake, pumping plant, and associated infrastructure.

Key technical elements include a cement-bentonite slurry cutoff wall, detailed excavation plans for various site features (intake channel, settling channel, outlet channel), a 42-inch pipeline connection, utility installations, gravel surfacing, and precise grading control points. The project involves multiple structures and infrastructure components across approximately 125 acres, with elevation changes ranging from 5075 to 5100 feet. The drawings are prepared by the Bureau of Reclamation and dated April 2025, indicating an upcoming construction phase for this water supply infrastructure project serving the Navajo Nation and surrounding regions.

GENERAL NOTES

1. General Notes, Symbols, Abbreviations, and Pipe Classification apply to all plan and profile drawings.

2. Stations are approximate and may be varied as directed.

3. Minimum earth cover over the top of the pipe shall be 3.5 feet unless the line pipe is at an existing wash, or at a roadway, and then the minimum cover is 5 feet, unless otherwise noted.

4. Hydraulic grade line elevations (H.G.L. El.) shown are for the design Q of 71 cfs in 42" diameter line pipe at steady state for Reach 1.

5. Unknown elevations and diameters of existing utilities shall be determined by the contractor and reported to the COR in time to allow adjustment of grades and design if required before contractor submits pipe, fittings, and miter bends for approval.

6. Grid based on New Mexico State Coordinate System, West Zone (NAD83) horizontal datum. A grid to ground to grid conversion factor is 1.000286319627 was used.

7. All distances shown on this drawing are in ground.

8. CAUTION: Call New Mexico One Call 811 before you dig.

ABBREVIATIONS

HGL - Hydraulic Grade Line NTUA - Navajo Tribal Utility

Authority OH - Over Head PNM - Public Service

Company of New Mexico

ROW - Right-of-Way

PIPE CLASSIFICATIONS

The line pipe is designated as 42B425, 42B325, 42D450, etc. The 42 indicates the nominal pipe diameter in inches. The letters B, C, and D denote cover class of 10, 15, and 20 feet respectively, of design earth cover over the top of the pipe. The number 425, 325, etc. denotes the maximum allowable hydrostatic pressure head, in feet, measured at the centerline of the pipe.

5. C-B slurry cutoff wall excavation and base shall extend a minimum of 3.0' below top of bedrock, or as determined by COR in the field, in accordance with the specifications.

6. Top of bedrock shown on drawings does not include decomposed materials overlying bedrock. See specification 53 10 00 for additional information.

7. Trim C-B slurry cutoff wall to depth of approximately 2.5 feet (El. 5094.5) below grade prior to placing slurry cutoff wall cap, in accordance with specification section 31 56 20 Cement-Bentonite Slurry Cutoff Wall.
