Questions and Answers

1. On the Warehouse building door, do you want the door with (1) panel full view glass or all panels to be plain with no glass?

One (1) window must be included for this location.

2. We determined that there is electrical work needed, is it possible to schedule another site visit to have our electrician see the site?

A secondary site visit is scheduled on May 23, 2024, Thursday at 9:00AM Local Time.

3. Hot Works Permits: It came to our attention that all the door tracks are welded onto the framed structure and will require either torching or grinder cutting for removal. Could you please confirm whether hot works permits are required for this process?

Yes, hot work permits are required and will go to the Safety Office for review and approval.

4. Flammable Materials: Given that these buildings house hazardous chemicals that might be flammable, we need to ensure safety measures are in place. Can you confirm if the buildings will be cleared of any flammable materials before the commencement of our work?

The wet chemical building stores the hazardous material, which is chlorine, however chlorine is not flammable and cannot burn. It is an oxidizer and won't react with oxygen, however it will cause fires to burn faster, hotter, and more intensely.

The chlorine cannot be removed from the wet chemical building, but a Hot Work Permit and shielding will be sufficient. The wet chemical building does not store any flammable material.

The WQIC and dry chemical buildings will not have any flammable materials in them.

5. Are there any modification requirements on the electrical operator enclosures for the Wet Chemical Building door?

No modification requirements unless new door operators require them.

6. Is there a preference for the material used for the enclosures? 5052-H32 aluminum, 304/304L stainless steel, or 316/316L stainless steel. These vary in cost and if the Bureau of Reclamation has a material quality preference, we would like to provide that.

All doors except for the Wet Chemical building door, are preferred to be made of aluminum; but mild steel may be used for all other hardware. 316L Stainless steel door and hardware is required only for the Wet Chemical building where chlorine would react to aluminum. NEMA Type 4 protection is requested for enclosures.

7. Do the current doors have all electrical drops/infrastructure in place to support the requested 480 V 3-Phase motors or will on-site electrical modifications be needed?

Yes. All existing door operators are currently powered by 480 3-phase. Contractors shall use existing electrical connections; but any rewiring needed to support the new operators are the Contractor’s responsibility.

8. On page 3 of the RFQ (I have attached for convenience) it states requirements to remove and replace existing HVAC units? Is this a clerical error or part of the job scope?

There is no HVAC on this requirement. The foreword page is being replace in its entirety. See Attachment 5 of this amendment.
