About this file

This document is a Standard Form 30 Amendment of Solicitation/Modification of Contract for the Bettles Visitor Center Heating System Replacement project. The amendment, issued by the National Park Service Alaska Regional Office, provides detailed answers to six vendor questions regarding project specifications. Key clarifications include: all control valves will be replaced, contractor work hours are 7 am to 7 pm Monday through Saturday, 17 existing thermostats must be replaced with programmable units (preferably wi-fi enabled), Pro-Press fittings are not allowed, and waste disposal will be through the Evansville Tribal Council landfill.

The amendment also confirms NPS housing is available at $43.38/day for a three-bedroom unit, with billing occurring post-use. The project's period of performance is scheduled from 07/01/2025 to 10/31/2025, and will be executed as a firm fixed-price contract. Contractors must submit requests for extended working hours at least two weeks in advance, with final approval contingent on visitor center usage and NPS staff availability for building access.

ANSWER: Contractor work hours are clarified as 7 am to 7 pm Monday through Saturday. After the initial project schedule is developed and the project kickoff meeting is conducted, the

Contractor may submit a request to the CO for longer working hours or additional working days.

The request must be submitted no less than two weeks (14 days) ahead of the desired dates and reference specific work to be performed during the extended hours/days. The CO will approve or reject the request based on usage of the visitor center and availability of NPS staff to provide building access during the requested times.

3.Please clarify intent regarding a "new electronic system controller/thermostat".

ANSWER: There are currently 17 thermostats in the

Bettles Visitor Center (ref sheets M2.0 & M2.1 on provided drawings). Contractors shall replace existing thermostats. New thermostats must, at a minimum, be programmable on a 5-2 schedule. It is preferred that the new thermostats be compatible with a wi-fi network and be capable of issuing an alert to the Bettles maintenance worker if dropping below a selected temperature.

4. Will Pro-Press fittings be allowed?

ANSWER: Pro-Press fittings are not allowable for this project as Park maintenance staff does not have Pro-Press tooling for future repair work.

5.Is there a transfer site available to dispose of material and equipment to be removed?

ANSWER: The Evansville Tribal Council operates a landfill accepting waste from Evansville and

Bettles. Contractors are responsible for confirming the landfill will accept waste generated from this project by contacting the owners at 907-692-5005 or evansvillealaska@gmail.com. ADEC maintains a record of this landfill and contact information on the Solid Waste Information Management System

(SWIMS).

6. Will there be a nightly rate at the mentioned

NPS units near site?
