About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document (#2) for National Park Service contract 140P8626R0007 concerning MAHE Water Meters installation at Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GOGA).
The document addresses contractor responsibilities and project parameters for replacing water meters with ultrasonic meters equipped with Orion Cellular C endpoints for mobile reading and data collection. Key clarifications include: the contractor must furnish all ultrasonic water meters, Orion Cellular C endpoints, and related installation materials per construction specifications; field verification of existing meter sizes is the contractor's responsibility; connections are between existing meters and existing piping; change orders are available for degraded piping requiring replacement to achieve a leak-free system; fittings must be lead-free and sanitized with a 50/50 water bleach solution. The contractor must contact USA utility for trenching of new meters but not for existing meter replacement. No more than one day of water outage is permitted at each location. The Government will provide access to secured locations and has existing equipment to read the new meters, eliminating contractor obligations for handheld readers or software. The National Park Service will monitor all digging activities and clear vegetation if necessary. The contractor may coordinate with NPS regarding laydown yards or shipping container storage. Programming, activation, and commissioning of endpoints will be performed jointly by the contractor and the park. Specific quantities of meter sizes and Christy box replacements are referenced in the construction specifications, which contractors must consult for detailed bidding requirements.
