About this file
This is Amendment 0002 to solicitation 140P8625Q0006, providing answers to contractor questions regarding window replacement work at Building 1199 for the National Park Service's Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GOGA) in San Francisco. The amendment clarifies that the windows requiring replacement are currently covered in plywood and can be identified by size according to specifications in Attachment 1. Key details include: glass must be tempered; privacy film is required on kitchen windows (grey to match existing); both the transaction window and second inner glass need replacement; the building will remain occupied during construction though staff can be relocated; paint color should match interior frames and surrounding weathered areas for uniformity; and regarding the 13-14 week lead time for replacement sashes that exceeds the 60-day performance period, NPS will issue a separate notice to proceed for materials. The transaction window replacement is specified as glass-only, with no specific brand requirement as long as specifications are met, including both a sliding window component and interior glass window.

Amendment 0002 is to provide additional answers to questions posed by interested contractors; no further questions will be taken.
Question 1: Are the sashes or Insulated Glass Units that need to be replaced marked or labeled already?
Answer: The windows are covered in plywood, so you should be able to tell which ones you are looking for based on the size. Please see Attachment 3 Photos as there are photos with window dimensions. Look at Attachment 1 Project Specifications section 01 11 00 Summary of
Work section 1.2 B 1 for details on which sizes need sash replacement.

Question 2: Should the glass be tempered?
Answer: Yes.
Question 3: Do you want the privacy film on the windows in the kitchen? (All windows except three large windows)
Answer: Yes, grey to match the others in the area is okay.
Question 4: Do you want the transaction window replaced?
Answer: Yes, both the transaction window and the second inner glass need to be replaced.
Question 5: Will the building be occupied during construction?
Answer: Yes, but staff can be re-located depending on desk space and if it would interfere with construction.
Question 6: The original exterior finish color was a custom color called "Arctic Silver". This color is no longer offered. We asked a company for the added cost of a "custom color" to match.
However, where would we get an original sample of the "Arctic Silver" color? The existing windows finish is oxidized and weathered 15 years on.
Additionally, we doubt any new paint is going to match the adjacent frame(s) due to weathering.
What to do?
Answer: Color match to the interior frames as close as possible. For paint, color should match the surrounding area, even if it is weathered so everything looks uniform.
Question 7: A company quoted us a 13¿14-week lead-time for the 3 replacement sashes. This exceeds the 60-day performance period from the
NTP date. What to do?
Answer: We would do a notice to proceed on materials that would not be included in the construction period of performance. Please provide estimated lead time.
Question 8: Do you have a ¿brand name¿ or specification for the new transactions window? Or do we assume replacing the glass only at the existing transaction window framing and note the entire transaction window assembly? Please let us know.

Answer: The transaction window is glass-only replacement; it does not need to be a specific brand name as long as it meets the specifications. We want to replace in kind, but do not restrict specific brands. For the transaction window, there is a sliding window part and an interior glass only window as well, so it is more than one part. We are open to ideas as to the best way to replace this.
