About this file

This file contains Responses to Requests for Information (RFI) for Solicitation 140P8526Q0026, issued by the National Park Service at Yosemite National Park for annual fire suppression and fire alarm system inspections and testing. The contract is a firm fixed price commercial services acquisition set aside for small businesses (NAICS 541350, $11.5 million size standard), with evaluation based on price, proposed project schedule, and past performance.

The RFI responses clarify critical scope and operational details: the contract covers annual inspections only for fire sprinkler systems and fire alarm systems, but excludes hydrants and five-year inspections. A scissor lift is required for sprinkler head inspection at El Portal Warehouse (EPQ 759). NPS will provide escorts for building access during Monday through Friday operations (8:00 AM–5:00 PM); keys and addresses will be provided for scheduling. Field surveys are mandatory for fire suppression systems only and consist of low-level inventory documentation including number of risers, tamper switches, flow switches, installed sprinkler heads, and spare sprinkler heads to complete a provided spreadsheet. For El Portal Battery Storage building, one dry chemical system is present: a Monarch/Pyro-Chem PCI-70 ABC Industrial Fire Suppression System (not an FM 200 system as initially assumed).

A scissor lift would be needed to access the sprinkler heads in the El Portal Warehouse - EPQ 759, if a close visual inspection of the heads is required.

Hydrants are not in the scope.

1. Are escorts required to perform the inspections, or will keys and addresses be provided?

Yes, escorts are required when entering buildings and residential units, addresses will be provided for scheduling purposes and escorts will be provided by the NPS.

1. Is this contract only for fire sprinkler and dry chemical inspection and Not fire alarm? Or is it sprinkler only?

The contract is for annual inspections only.

1. El Portal Battery Storage building. (line 24) What kind of dry chem system is this? (The dry chemical system appears to be a FM 200 system based on the size.) And please confirm how many systems.

There is only one dry chemical system, it is a Monarch/Pyro-Chem - PCI-70 ABC Industrial Fire Suppression System.

1. Could you please confirm whether the system component field surveys requirement is mandatory? If so, we kindly request additional details regarding the expected scope and level of detail for the inventory.

The "field surveys" that we are looking for are low-level surveys - to include number of risers, tamper switches, flow switches, installed sprinkler heads, spare sprinkler heads - to complete the spreadsheet included for the system scheduling - for the fire suppression systems only.
