About this file

This is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) document for RFI responses related to a fire suppression system repair solicitation at Yosemite National Park. The document addresses contractor inquiries regarding sprinkler head replacement requirements and specifications for the Ranger Club dormitory facility.

The Q&A clarifies that at least 28 recalled sprinkler heads must be replaced throughout the dormitory, including 38 Central sidewall heads on the first floor plus 4 additional heads stored in the spare head box, along with recessed heads on the second floor and upright pendants in the mechanical room and attic. All recalled sprinkler heads of the identified types (brass and quick response models) must be replaced to comply with code requirements and obtain a clean inspection report. The document confirms that no additional recall documentation beyond what was identified during the 2024 annual inspection by the ITM contractor is available. Additional specifications address a 4-inch flange with bolts and nuts requiring replacement, and the document references supplementary attachments and photographs included in Solicitation Amendment 0002. The underlying solicitation, issued by the National Park Service, is set-aside for Small Business concerns only, requires proposals by 23 February 2026 at 12:00 p.m. PST, with an estimated construction magnitude between $25,000 and $100,000. The applicable NAICS code is 238220 with a small business size standard of $19.0 million.

140P8526Q0015-YOSE Ranger Club Fire Suppression Repair RFI Answers V.2.

2/17/2026

Q)Confirmation that the sprinkler heads stored in the spare head box match the heads installed throughout the dormitory - the heads in the head box are for the recalled Central heads, the head box would need to be filled with the correct number of replaced heads and the heads that correspond to the rest of the building.

A) There are side wall heads on the first floor, recessed heads on the second floor and upright pendants in the mechanical room and the attic.

Q) What is the total quantity of installed sprinkler heads within the dormitory that are affected by the recall.

A) There are at least 28 heads that are affected by the recall.

Q) Confirmation that all recalled sprinkler heads of the identified types (¾-inch brass and ½-inch quick response) installed throughout the dormitory are required to be replaced.

A) Yes, all of the recalled sprinkler heads will need to be replaced.

Q) Any additional recall documentation identifying applicable manufacturers, models, or date ranges.

A) We have no additional information regarding the recall, the recalled heads were identified during the annual inspection in 2024, by the ITM contractor.

Q)16" Take out, Flange X groove, Bolts and Nuts are stripped, What Size is the Flange?

A )The flange is 4" - see solicitation Attachment 5 Flange Photo.

Q) I am going through the reports to quote this, and it appears that a page is missing. Per the inspection report, the box on Page 5 is checked, indicating an additional page of deficiencies, but I can not find it in the documents.

A) See new attachments included in Solicitation amendment 0002.

Q) The recalled heads CANNOT be left behind, for a clean report to be issued, but aside from the ones in the head box, the list does not specify a quantity or make for any others. Any heads installed in that building that are on the recall list must also be replaced. Leaving them behind and issuing a certificate violates the code and puts the contractor of record at liability if the heads fail to operate.

A) Yes, we would like all of the recalled sprinkler heads replaced - the heads on the first floor are Central sidewall heads (38 ea and 4ea in the head box) - none of the other heads have been identified as recalled. Additional photos of the recalled heads included in the solicitation amendment.
