About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers file for a federal contract opportunity to replace a propane furnace at Point Reyes National Seashore Ranger Headquarters. The Q&A provides critical details for potential bidders, including confirmation that electrical work should be included in the proposal, the building is 1,950 square feet, and the existing ductwork will not be fully replaced. Contractors are instructed to bid on a system that meets the specified salient characteristics, use available breaker spaces for the heat pump, and modify existing support systems as needed to install the new air handler.
Key clarifications include: the solar system is currently non-functional, only minimal duct modifications are permitted for system installation, and contractors should not propose alternative systems with different capacities. The document emphasizes maintaining bid consistency by adhering to the specified system requirements and ensuring that any proposed alternative models match the original's key characteristics. Contractors must include all electrical work in their proposal and plan to install the new air handler in the location of the existing propane furnace while tying into the existing duct system.
