About this file
This document is a Vendor's Questions and Answers (Amendment 0001) for a garage door replacement project (Solicitation 140P8325Q0046). The document provides detailed clarifications on specific requirements for a garage door installation, including window configuration, glass type, color, and track specifications. Key details include: the door opening measures approximately 117 inches wide by 119 inches tall, the doors will use a reverse angle track mounted to wood, and the government requires a new chain hoist and track. The vendor clarified that two top-section window lites with ½" insulated tempered glass are acceptable, and a brown or bronze-like color is permitted. When prioritizing requirements, the government emphasized R-value and manual chain hoist as the most critical factors for the replacement doors.

Vendor’s Questions and Answers (in RED):
1. Windows vs. model – ThermoMark 5200 at 10' width allows only two top-section lites;
glazing is ½" insulated tempered glass (no polycarbonate).
2. • Is two lites acceptable? Yes.
• Is tempered glass acceptable as an “equal,” or do you require an impact-rated standard? Tempered glass is acceptable.
3. Color – Spec calls for Bronze. Some compliant alternates are only Brown. Is Brown acceptable, or would field painting to Bronze be acceptable? Brown or color similar to bronze is acceptable. Field painting is not acceptable.
4. Priorities – If an exact match isn’t feasible, what’s the priority among R-value, window quantity/material, color/finish, and manual chain-hoist? R-Value and manual chain hoist.
5. Does the government want the chain hoists replaced as well? Yes, new chain hoist and track.
6. What is the exact size of the opening? For context, most commercial doors are 10'2" wide by 10' tall. The opening measures approximately 117 inches wide by 119 inches tall.
7. What is the door mounting to? Steel or wood? Reverse angle track is mounted to wood.
8. Are the doors standard track or reverse angle? The existing doors are installed with reverse angle track; replacement doors shall be furnished with reverse angle track.
9. What is the current radius of track? 12 inch or 15inch? Unknown.
