P140P8318R0001, Replace Windows, Doors and Skylights North Cascades NPS Complex Attachment 5: Clarifications with Amendment #2

These questions were sent by e-mail after Amendment 1 was posted. The numbering continues from Attachment 4.

8: The Glazing section subtitled “Metal-Framed Skylights and Sloped Glazing” in the Statement of Work (Page 53) states “Coordinate location and installation of safety railing systems required around skylight and sloped glazed openings as required by project requirements.” What is required?

A: Workers must employ adequate, appropriate fall protection measures when working on the skylights and upper windows, whether using a lift, scaffolding, or access from the roof.

There are multiple anchor points for fall protection located near the skylights on the roof.

Contractor’s fall protection must comply with federal and state requirements and be described in the Accident Prevention Plan. The stated requirement for safety railing systems is deleted.

9: Clarify the required U-factor for glazing thermal value.

A: We are seeking thermal value comparable to a minimum R-value of 5 (R-5 rating), which translates to a U-factor of 0.20. Due to the size and configuration of the glazing, we will accept a maximum U-factor of 0.24.
