Questions & Answers #1 140P8123Q0135 – Travel Trailers Q1: Are standing housing units acceptable?
A1: This will not work for our needs. Staff will be living there for several months and need kitchen facilities as well as a place to sleep, live and shower.
Q2: Would you like the quote itemized to show the emptying of the waste tanks, propane tank replacement, and deep cleaning fees?
A2: The waste tanks will not be used as the units will be directly connected to our wastewater collection system. Yes, please itemize the propane tank replacement and deep cleaning.
Q3: Is there a common schedule for emptying tanks and replacing propane? Every few days for waste? Weekly/biweekly propane?
A3: Per the SOW, two (2) 30-gallon tanks are to be supplied by the contractor. Based on this, the park will handle filing tanks through a local propane supplier.
Q4: How will power be supplied to each unit? The answer to this question can lead to several follow up questions such as:
---- will 50a service be available?
---- will the proper rv receptacle be within 30 feet of each trailer? If not, will the vendor be required to install electrical service?
A4: Power will be supplied by the 50A existing RV hook-ups. Park currently has existing full hook-ups within 30 feet.
Q5: Would an end user or NPS employee be able to empty the trailer holding tanks into an external storage tank as required (this process may need to be done as often as twice per week). We would provide all tools and external tanks to make this a simple process.
A5: The waste tanks will not be used as the units will be directly connected to our wastewater collection system.
Q6: Is there an available potable water supply within 100 feet of the proposed location of the trailers? If not, how far away is the fresh water supply?
A6: Park already has existing full hook up sites that have water, sewer, electric within 100 feet.
Q7: What are the high and low temperatures that will be seen during the rental period?
---- will winterization/anti freeze protection be required?
---- does the end user understand that a travel trailer/RV can only cool 15 to 20 degrees below ambient temperatures.
A7: Highs in the winter months range between 70-90 degrees during the day, typical overnight temps range between 30-50 degrees. Given the later anti-freeze would be a good preventative measure.
Yes, it is understood that a travel trailer/RV can only cool 15 to 20 degrees below ambient temperatures.
Q8: Is there a trailer length restriction in regards to the access roads to/from the location?
A8: The scope of work refers to max length, of the trailers, of 40 feet. But there is no restriction in regards to the access roads.
Q9: What is the expected mobilization time frame? From contract award to initial set-up?
A9: Anticipated time frame mobilization is from September 25, 2023 – March 25, 2024, as noted in the scope of work; once the contract is awarded mobilization date will require some discussion as the park has had flood damage and may need lead time to provide easier access for delivery of rentals.
Q10: Will the vendor that is awarded the contract be able to choose which units to bring? For example, having am RV pull a TT to location may provide some synergy.
A10: There is no specific requirement on how to deliver the travel trailers/RVs to Death Valley however the units provided must conform to the salient characteristic described in the statement of work (SOW).
Q11: Can a site walk be arranged once a short list of vendors is finalized?
A11: There is no site visit for this project.
Q12: Is the Lump Sum scheduled to be paid up front, after delivery, or after the 6- month rental?
A12: It is anticipated that payment will be made after delivery of the trailers/RVs and on a monthly basis. See Revised price schedule for further details.
Q13: Does the NPS already have a contract with a septic tank and/or portable toilet vendor? Would we be able to contract such vendor to empty external sewer tanks?
A13: The waste tanks will not be used as the units will be directly connected to our wastewater collection system.
Q14: On the trailers do they have to be 50 amp service? 30 amp service can provide the A/C and Heat requirements listed in the specs.
A14: Yes, the trailers should be 50 amp service per the SOW.
Q15: Do they need to be aluminum Frame?
A15: There is no requirement in the SOW concerning the “frame”. The “frame” can be other than aluminum; please state the frame material being quoted. The “body and roof material” must be aluminum per the SOW.
