About this file

This document is a set of Additional Questions and Responses for the Herbert Hoover Alarm Project. The key details are:

The contracting agency is the National Park Service Midwest Region. The project involves replacing the fire and security alarm systems at the Herbert Hoover National Historic Site. The document addresses several questions that were raised, including the use of flexible conduit instead of rigid conduit, the number of spare points needed for future expansion, and the need for fire and intrusion alarm panels in certain buildings. It also notes that the intrusion alarm system should operate on a different frequency than the fire alarm system. The document indicates that only one hardware set is being provided for the project, and the contractor should complete the project as designed and specified.

Additional Questions and Responses for Herbert Hoover Alarm Project.

1) If currently wiring has flex rather than conduit, can we use new flex rather than conduit since it is less expensive? Conduit, and metal clad cable are specified. Flexible conduit would be OK in areas/locations not visible to the public.

2) How many points are you needing for the panel, fire alarm, and intrusion for future expansion? In specifications: One point per detector plus 20% spare.

3) What is the need to put a fire panel and intrusion panel in the blacksmith shop and Isaac Miles Barn? In the Meeting House a new wall with a door will be provided to enclose the space and electric heaters will be provided. In the P.T. Smith House, the opening to the crawl space will have a removable cover installed and electrical heaters will be provided. In the School House electrical heaters will be provided. The fire alarm and intrusion alarm panels will be deleted in the Blacksmith Shop and services will report to the panels in the school House. The fire alarm panel in the Soellers Barn will be deleted and the services will report to the panel in the school House. The fire alarm and intrusion alarm panels in the Isaac Miles Barn will be deleted and the devices will report to panels in the Isaac House.

4) A question was raised about the operating frequency of the Swift, DMP, and Bosch systems being too close together and possibly being an issue after install.

GC should provide an intrusion alarm system that operates at a different frequency than the fire alarm system or vice versa.

5) It was noticed that there is no door schedule for this project. Door 01 was found and the hardware spec section is for this door. Is it correct to assume that we are only providing one hardware set, not the door and frame. Complete the project as designed and specified.
