Question #1: Since this will be a government project, if we hold a contractor’s license in other states, are there any other licenses that are required by the state of Florida or is it not required since it’s a government contract?
Answer: When a project is under the jurisdiction of a federal agency and located on federal property, state licensing requirements will normally not be enforceable. You should be fine as long as you’re able to provide the required documents. (bonds, insurance, bid guarantee, etc)
Question #2: What size and type of shingle or shake that is to be used? We might be overlooking it in the documents, but did not see that in there. Is it a shingle or wooden shake?
Answer: Reference top of page 3 of the Statement of Work (Atch 1 of the solicitation) “Western Red Cedar Shingles, 100% clear, 100% heartwood, 100% edge grain with no defects”
Question #3: Can you verify if it is closed decking or open-spaced?
Answer: It is mostly closed, but there is only a small spot in the second story that we can actually see the decking.

Question #7: Is a Florida roofing license required for this project?
Answer: No
Question #8: Will a separate Superintendent, Quality Control and SSHO be needed for the project or if one individual can serve as a triple hat for all of these roles?
Answer: One person can do all if needed.
Question #9: Per the provided Roof Plan Drawings issued by Shepard Associates, (Sheets A-4 – A-6) reference other work regarding the Main House and Carriage House. Please confirm the Carriage House work is not to be part of this scope of work and not included in the (Main House Bid). Please also confirm work associated to grade adjustments, plaster, painting, etc. as shown on the plans are for reference only and are not to be completed in the bid as well, as not referenced in the Solicitation – Description of Services Answer: Carriage House and the Breezeway are not part of this part of this project. This project is for the roof and the gutters of the Main House.
Question #10: Page 3 – D. What is hardware cloth? Inspect and replace as needed. This is not industry standard, and direction is needed.
