About this file
This document contains questions and answers related to a federal contract opportunity for the reconstruction of the Heritage Trail Boardwalk at Mammoth Caves National Park. The key details are:
The contractor inquired about receiving drawings showing the project sections, the color for the "colored concrete", any seasonal phasing requirements, whether sections of the trail will remain open during construction, if the contractor staging area will be relocated during high visitation periods, who is responsible for tree removal, and the availability of site utilities for construction. The government responded that drawings delineating the project sections are available, the color for the colored concrete has not been determined, there are no seasonal phasing requirements, sections of the trail under construction will be closed, they will try to avoid relocating staging areas but it is possible, tree removal is the contractor's responsibility, and electrical power and potable water will be available nearby for construction, but the contractor is responsible for metering, paying use charges, and providing necessary connections.
The related federal contract opportunity is for the reconstruction of the Heritage Trail Boardwalk at Mammoth Caves National Park, solicited by the Department of the Interior National Park Service Southeast Region.

21. Are there any seasonal phasing requirements? No
22. Will sections of the trail remain open during construction? No, sections of the trail under construction will be closed. All closures must be coordinated with the COR.
23. Will the contractor staging area be relocated during times of high visitation periods? We will do our best to avoid relocating staging areas. However, as discussed during the site visit, there is a possibility that up to four projects could be happening simultaneously. The government will work to deconflict and avoid unnecessary relocations of staging areas during high visitation periods.
24. Will tree removal be done prior or is it the responsibility of the contractor? It is the responsibility of the Contractor. The Government must be given ample notice prior to removal.
25. Will site utilities for construction be available nearby? (Electrical & water) Yes, electrical power and potable water will be available nearby for construction. However, the contractor is responsible for metering, paying the use charges, and providing any necessary connections and extensions as part of the project cost.
