Questions from responses 140P5324R0026 MACA Heritage Trail
1. Per the amendment 002. The answer to question #11 states a detail will be provided on the post opening requirements. Am I overlooking the detail or is that shown in the notes via Electrical Schedule?
· VHB RESPONSE: A new detail is provided with this response to match the existing guardrail post dimensions on the existing bridge (see Question #5). Please see the detail titled, “GUARDRAIL POST WITH LIGHT FIXTURE”. A slight revision to the guardrail post size has also been made, increasing from 2-3/8” square to 2-1/2” square, see revised Black Guardrail System detail 7/C7.3.
2. Per the amendment 002. The answer to question #6 gives information for a Trex material. This material cut sheet shows material to be 1"x5.5" that does not meet the 2x6" requirement. Is size that acceptable?
· VHB RESPONSE: 1”X5.5” Dimension is acceptable so long as joist spacing does not exceed 16” O.C. spacing.
3. In addition to Question #6, the fastening system that trex provides and is show in the attached link, is a plastic material with stainless screw. Is a full stainless assembly required or will this plastic body be acceptable?
· VHB RESPONSE: Contractor shall use manufacturer recommended installation components so long as anchoring fasteners are stainless steel and is warranty compliant.
4. Answer 19 from Amendment 002 - Wouldn't Section 2 and Section 3 be describing the same thing? Where do the lines start and stop for each section?
· NPS RESPONSE: Please view this project as one project. The total project is outlined throughout the drawings/specifications.
5. Handrails: -C6.2 is the first section view of the handrail/guardrail. These do not match the handrail detail provided on C7.3 detail 7. The only area in which a handrail tube is shown in the drawings is at a location with stairs. With that information, is the guardrail system supposed to match the rail/guardrail/handrail system behind the VC or match the detail and the existing guardrail/handrail combo on the bridge?
· VHB RESPONSE:
· Bridge handrail shall match existing bridge, see revised details provided with Answer to Question #1.
· Exit steps out from hotel shall match existing bridge, see revised details provided with Answer to Question #1.
· All other step locations that do not require guard, are the handrail tubes as shown on detail 1 on C7.6.
6. Bridge work: -On C4.1 once the top 2" of the bridge is hydro excavated, this drawing shows it to be poured back with exposed aggregate which will not match the existing part of the bridge which is not touched in this contract. Is that what you are intending?
· VHB RESPONSE: Concrete poured back on the bridge shall match existing concrete color and finish of the untouched portions of the bridge deck surface.
7. Stairs out of the Rotunda and Coffee Shop: -On page C6.6 detail 1 (bottom left of page) the stairs are drawn going the wrong direction. Based on all other drawings you should exit and go down the stairs to the left rather than right back towards the hotel lobby. Which direction is accurate?
· VHB RESPONSE: Correct, exit building and go down to the left as shown on site plan sheet C2.1.
8. Electrical -On E2.1 there is no path to get wiring from the existing panel and lighting controller to fixtures. Is there a designated path for this to occur?
· VHB RESPONSE: The existing panel is located in Storage Room X111, which is located over the utility tunnel in the basement. The exterior lighting branch circuits shall be routed through the basement tunnel and exit the west side of the hotel. Contractor shall coordinate location of exterior building conduits with family cabin and new generator pad construction.
9. There are many places in the Civil Drawings that details are called out on a sheet S4.2. Per the Index there is no S4.2 Is that sheet missing?
· VHB RESPONSE: There is no S4.2 sheet, all references to sheet S4.2 should point to S4.1.
