Questions and Answers - Amendment 3
140P5324Q0044
1. Question: Solicitation section II.A.3. states that the contractor will "Produce a report that:
identifies the conservation and preservation needs of individual objects exhibited at
MOCR."
Is it the NPS's intention that the contractor will complete the assessments, write CCS
(including conservation treatment recommendations), get approval for "basic cleaning or stabilizing treatments'', and then return on-site to clean/stabilize the items? Or will the assessments and basic cleaning/stabilization tasks occur simultaneously?
Answer: The scheduling is up to the contractor. Ideally, it would happen in one visit, but it's not required.
2. Question: If the assessments and basic cleaning/stabilization tasks are to occur simultaneously, does the NPS need to approve any on-site stabilization/cleaning before it occurs?
Answer: The proposed on-site treatments must be approved by the COR prior to beginning any work - NPS will make sure the turnaround time for that approval is immediate
3. Question: Can the NPS define the difference between "basic cleaning or stabilizing treatments'' and the conservation treatment recommendations the contractor will make in the CCS reports? In other words, what does the NPS consider "basic" stabilization (to be carried out on-site) versus more "advanced" stabilization (to be included in a future conservation CCS recommendation)?
Answer: Basic treatments would be anything that can be completed on site relatively quickly. This could include repair of exhibit mounts, reattaching any broken pieces, surface cleaning/dusting. Recommended treatments for the survey report could include more intensive/long term treatments like mold remediation, cleaning/consolidating corroded metal objects etc.
