About this file
This document contains questions and responses regarding Solicitation No. 140P5323R0051 for a roof and gutter replacement project at the Great Smoky Mountains Tremont Kitchen and Dining hall. The project scope requires installation of a 26-gauge steel R-Panel roof. A recommendation was made to use a 24-gauge steel R-Panel instead, as it has more strength, is more impact resistant to hail, can handle higher winds, and heavier snow loads, which are relevant conditions for the location. The responses confirmed fall protection roof anchors must be spaced approximately every 8 feet along the ridge and not within 6 feet of gable ends. Additionally, the project includes replacement of the main roof only and not the lower canopies. Measurements provided indicate the gutters on the north and south sides of the building are each approximately 116 feet in length with 4 downspouts on each side, for a total of 8 downspouts.

Solicitation No. 140P5323R0051 Roof & Gutter Replacement Tremont Kitchen and Dining hall
1. Attended the site visit last Thursday and we appreciate the opportunity to see the project. After seeing the site we have a question and a recommendation: What is the spacing on the fall protection roof anchors (24”, 36”, 48” on center etc.)? The scope of work is requiring a 26-gauge steel R-Panel. We would recommend using a 24-gauge steel R-Panel. The 24-gauge panel has more strength, is more impact resistant to hail, can handle higher winds, and heavier snow loads. The 24-gauge panel makes more sense in or near the mountains due to the above mentioned conditions.
As stated in Section II of the Scope of Work, under Roof Specification bullet f, permanent fall protection roof anchors must be installed at approximately every 8’ along the ridge and not be installed within 6’ of the gable end. Regarding the steel R-Panel, 24 gauge would be acceptable. The Contractor will still be required to submit the proposed product data for review and approval.
2. Does the project include only the main roof only or are we expected to include the lower canopies as well.
The project includes the main roof only. The lower canopies are not included.
3. Is there anyway you can get me measurements of the gutters and how many downspouts?
The length of gutter on north and south side of the building is approximately 116’ each and there are 4 downspouts on each side for a total of 8.
