About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file for Solicitation 140P5125Q0028, addressing the Replacement Roofs project at Bodie Island Lighthouse for the Double Keepers Quarters, Storehouse, and Oil House. The Q&A covers seven key clarification points for potential contractors, including critical site access and material handling guidelines. Notably, contractors will not be allowed interior access to the Double Keepers Quarters due to an extensive interior fire, and are restricted from storing materials on the historic foundation pad. Equipment use is permitted with caution, including rubber track skid steers and boom lifts, with strong recommendations for ground protection and surface restoration. Regarding roofing materials, contractors must match existing historical materials, specifically using copper flashing for the Oil House. Safety documentation requirements clarify that safety plans and Accident Prevention Plans are to be submitted after contract award, not with the initial proposal.
