About this file
This document is an Amendment (Amendment 0001) to a federal solicitation (Number 140P4325Q0045) for packing and moving museum collections at Boston National Historical Park. The amendment provides responses to 14 vendor questions and updates key solicitation details, including extending critical dates: a second site visit is scheduled for June 5, 2025 at 9:00 AM ET, questions must be submitted via email by June 10, 2025 at 10:00 AM ET, and quotes must be received by June 17, 2025 at 10:00 AM ET. The project involves moving approximately 31,000 museum objects, including Naval industrial history items, archival collections, archeology objects, signage, artwork, and photographic materials from Building 107 in the Charlestown Navy Yard to two separate storage locations during a major renovation.
The revised period of performance is now set for September 1, 2025 to October 31, 2025, with work to be completed by close of business on October 31. The National Park Service will provide a pallet jack for on-site use, and vendors are directed to the NPS Museum Handbook for handling guidelines. The collection comprises diverse objects that will require careful packing, with the government noting that fragile or hazardous items will be specially boxed and labeled. A detailed inventory and floor plan for the destination site will be provided in a future amendment, and all museum collections will remain under the ownership of the Department of Interior's National Park Service.
