About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document clarifying specifications for a wallpaper reproduction service solicitation for the Maggie Walker National Historic Site in Richmond, Virginia, issued by the Department of the Interior National Park Service Northeast Region under solicitation number 140P4226Q0018.

The document addresses a contractor inquiry regarding missing square footage measurements in the original Statement of Work. The project requires approximately 4,500 square feet of custom reproduction wallpapers and commercially available period-appropriate papers across seven rooms. Specifications include three custom reproduction patterns for the Library Room 101 (594 sq. ft.), Den Room 102 (372 sq. ft.), and Dining Room 110 (432 sq. ft.); one commercially available pattern for the Dining Room dado below the chair rail (216 sq. ft.); two patterns for Walker's Bedroom suite rooms 207 and 209 (640 sq. ft. and 560 sq. ft. respectively); and one pattern for the children's suite rooms 203 and 204 (360 sq. ft. each). Additionally, commercially available ceiling paper is required for four rooms: Library 101 (200 sq. ft.), Den 102 (184 sq. ft.), Master Bedroom 207 (400 sq. ft.), and Sitting Room 209 (196 sq. ft.). Quotes should include the required quantities plus ten percent attic stock for each pattern.

140P4226Q0018 – MAWA Wallpaper Reproduction Contractor Q & A

1. I am not finding the square footage needed per pattern. I see the floorplan but no room measurements. I understand the quote should include quantities plus attic stock (+10%) for each pattern.

The measurements were accidentally left out of the Statement of Work. The correct measurements are as follows:

The required wallpapers and ceiling papers will cover approximately 4,500 square feet of wall and ceiling space. Six distinct wallpaper patterns are required for the seven rooms:

Custom reproductions in the Library Room 101 (pattern 1, 594 sq. ft.); the Den Room 102 (pattern 2, 372 sq. ft.); and the Dining Room 110 (pattern 3, 432 sq. ft.); plus commercially available, period-appropriate papers for the Dining Room’s dado, below chair rail (Pattern 4, 216 sq. ft.); Walker’s Bedroom suite, rooms 207 & 209 (pattern 5, 640 sq. ft. and 560 sq. ft.), and children’s suite rooms 203 & 204 (Pattern 6, 360 sq. ft., 360 sq. ft.). Furthermore, commercially available ceiling paper will be acquired for four of the rooms: the library 101 (200 sq. ft.); the den 102 (184 sq. ft.); master bedroom 207 (400 sq. ft.); and the sitting room 209 (196 sq. ft.), which is attached to the master bedroom.
